Dale - Way to keep up the good fight. It's silly that TiVo makes their fans jump through so many hoops before they can buy. I'm sure that there are legal issues for not marketing their boxes in Canada, but they should work those issues out and make it easier for Canucks to subscribe to their service.

Can't edit the comment above. I meant to say TiVo DOES NOT, to this day, market in Canada.

The reason for the difference of course is that TiVo still, to this day, market TiVo in Canada. You cannot go to a store to purchase one. TiVo only begrudgingly started to support TiVo in Canada just over a year ago. Anyone who wants one must go through the laborious and expensive process of importing one over the border - and not from TiVo because TiVo won't sell directly into Canada.

ReplayTV and UltiamteTV have also never seen the light of day here. Except for those of us Canadians returning from the U.S. with the experience of TiVo, the only PVRs available to Canadians are the abysmal SFA and MOT boxes that cable companies make available, and those boxes of turds have only been available here for about 2 years.

So, its no wonder why there is such a small market penetration here. But, I'm doing my bit. I have 3 operational TiVo's running in Canada as do most of my friends who have experienced a TiVo in my home.

Cheers.
